Ferran Gorrea is a Spanish musician, saxophonist and improviser who has lived in Zurich since 2017. In 2017, he graduated with a diploma in Salamanca, in the class of the renowned saxophonists Andrés Gomis and Ángel Soria. In 2019 he passed his "Master of Arts in Music Performance" in the saxophone class of Lars Mlekusch at the Zurich University of the Arts, where he is currently studying a Master in Music Pedagogy.
Ferran Gorrea is a very active and versatile artist; he is in his element not only as an orchestral musician but also as a soloist or ensemble member. He could also be described as a very innovative musician whose strength is especially evident in improvisation.
One of his most important successes to date is without a doubt the first prize in the 2019 ZHdK Contemporary Music Interpretation Competition (category: soloist), and he has also been a guest in major European concert halls, including Het Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Tonhalle Maag (Zurich) and Auditorio Nacional (Madrid).
Since he began his musical career in Switzerland, there have been several foundations that have pledged their support and trust to him, including the Lyra Foundation, the Elsy Meyer Foundation, the C. and A. Kupper Foundation, the Zaczkowski Foundation and several others.
Ferran has met two important people in his musical education who have inspired him as a human and pedagogical example: his Bachelor and Master Saxophone teachers Ángel Soria and Lars Mlekusch. Both have given him the enthusiasm and passion for the saxophone as well as the peculiarity to pay attention to all musical details. They were the pillars of Ferran's education, which is why he now wants to pass them on to his students with a lot of joy and enthusiasm.
The lessons can be held in English, Spanish, Catalan and German.
